RASC News Agency: Neda Mohammad Nadim, the Taliban’s Minister of Higher Education, has declared that social media users, including those on Twitter (X) and Facebook, are “apostates.” A video clip of Nadim was released on Friday, September 6, showing him delivering a speech at an event in Kabul. Nadim emphasized that social media users engage in negative propaganda against the Taliban and insult religious scholars. In part of his speech, he stated: “These apostate users carry out their propaganda in the Pashto language.” This statement comes despite the fact that Taliban officials are among the most active users of social media, particularly Twitter.
The irony of Nadim’s remarks lies in the fact that while he condemns social media users as apostates, the Taliban itself operates tens of thousands of fake accounts on Twitter (X), Facebook, and other platforms. These accounts have historically been used to promote their ethnic and terrorist agendas. Until recently, Taliban-affiliated users spread terror through these very networks, broadcasting countless operations and killings. Yet now, as the public protests against their dictatorial rule, these same users are labeled as apostates.
Nadim also expressed his surprise at why some users conduct their propaganda in Pashto, implying that the Taliban’s government is ethnically Pashtun and asserting that no one is allowed to challenge or criticize their medieval policies.
