RASC News Agency: A source from within the Attorney General’s Office, under Taliban control, informed media outlets that 34 individuals perished and 22 others were injured in a suicide bombing that occurred on Monday near the Attorney General’s Office in Kabul. According to the source, the majority of those killed were prosecutors. However, the Taliban have downplayed the figures, reporting only six fatalities.
Karen Decker, the Charge d’Affaires of the United States Embassy for Afghanistan, denounced the Monday explosion in Kabul as a “cowardly and heinous” act of terrorism. Decker, in her statement on her social media account on X, expressed her condolences, saying she “shares in the grief and sorrow of the victims’ families.”
Earlier, Rina Amiri, the U.S. Special Envoy for Afghanistani Women, Girls, and Human Rights, also condemned the attack, labeling it as “senseless.” This assault strikes at the heart of Kabul, despite the Taliban’s repeated assertions of having established nationwide security, frequently claiming that no group other than their own operates within Afghanistan. Over the past three years, the Taliban have systematically purged several government departments of former employees through targeted suicide and explosive attacks. The attack on the Attorney General’s Office appears to be part of this ongoing campaign. Reports suggest that all those killed in the incident were of Tajik ethnicity.
