RASC News Agency: A reliable source within the Taliban’s Ministry of Telecommunications has confirmed that Najibullah Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, has moved his family from Kabul to Pakistan. This development follows escalating internal conflicts within the Taliban, coupled with a surge in attacks by anti-Taliban resistance forces and ISIS militants. On Monday, February 17, sources reported that several senior Taliban officials, including the Minister of Telecommunications, have discreetly relocated their families to Pakistan, citing growing security threats.
The rising factional disputes within the Taliban, an increasing wave of suicide attacks targeting key Taliban figures, and the consolidation of Kandahari dominance in Kabul have alarmed senior members of the Haqqani Network. As a result, several high-ranking figures have either fled to Pakistan or repositioned themselves in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces. A source from the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior stated that Taliban forces are experiencing a declining morale in the face of mounting opposition attacks. According to him, the relentless wave of assaults by anti-Taliban groups has instilled fear even among the group’s leadership.
In recent days, the Taliban have come under heavy attack from opposition forces and ISIS. Three devastating suicide bombings targeted the Ministry of Refugees, the Ministry of Urban Development, and the Taliban’s provincial police headquarters in Kunduz, resulting in the deaths of multiple senior Taliban officials, including the Minister of Refugees. Simultaneously, internal strife within the Taliban has intensified, with some analysts warning that a full-scale intra-Taliban conflict may be imminent. Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada has responded with a harsh crackdown on internal dissent, imposing travel bans on dissident Taliban members, demoting them, and even ordering their arrests in some cases.
