RASC News Agency: Reports from residents of Khwaja Bahauddin district in Takhar province reveal that the Taliban have demolished dozens of homes in the area, claiming that the properties belong to the so-called “Emirate.” According to local sources, these homes were situated in the sixth district of Khwaja Bahauddin, extending toward the desert. A resident of the area informed the media that the Taliban, accompanied by a large force and heavy machinery, began the demolition process yesterday. The resident added that the local population responded by staging a protest.
Eyewitnesses report that between 30 to 40 homes have been either partially or entirely destroyed. Photographs obtained by the media show that several boundary walls have also been demolished. However, another source stated that so far, 10 to 15 homes have been demolished, and following the public outcry, the local municipality granted a five-day period for residents to obtain documentation from either the Takhar provincial center or Kabul to halt the demolition process.
A local resident mentioned that these homes were constructed over the past century as the population expanded. He also noted that they possess tax receipts for these properties. According to him, approximately “two thousand” homes are located in this area.
The residents, who are primarily impoverished livestock farmers, stated that they built their homes with great difficulty and no longer have the means to rebuild them. The spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Takhar province has yet to comment on the matter. It is worth noting that over the past three years, the Taliban, under the guise of various pretexts, have forcibly displaced non-Pashtun ethnic groups, particularly Tajiks and Hazaras.
