RASC News Agency: On the third anniversary of the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan, Amnesty International released a report revealing that three years of Taliban rule, combined with the global community’s inaction and passive stance, have driven the Afghanistani populace into a state of profound despair. The international organization asserts that Taliban officials are flagrantly violating human rights and committing heinous crimes against the Afghanistani people, particularly women and girls, with complete impunity. This report, based on extensive investigations, involved interviews with over 150 Afghanistani human rights defenders, university professors, protesting women, youth activists, civil society representatives, and journalists.
These interviews were conducted with individuals from 21 provinces across Afghanistan and exiled Afghanistanis in 10 countries worldwide, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, and Pakistan. Samira Hamidi, a South Asia campaigner for Amnesty International, stated that they engaged with individuals who represent Afghanistan society across the globe, most of whom are convinced that the international community has utterly failed the Afghanistani people.
Meanwhile, the Taliban regime has not only imposed draconian restrictions on women’s employment, education, and freedom of movement but has also engaged in the brutal killing, torture, and imprisonment of ethnic minorities under the harshest conditions. Rather than merely being a passive observer, the international community, notably the United States, exacerbates the situation by continuing to provide millions of dollars monthly to this group, thus enabling them to inflict relentless physical and psychological torment on the Afghanistani people without accountability.
