Unknown Gunmen Kill Man in Nangarhar

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Nangarhar province report that a young man was recently shot dead by unknown gunmen in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, amid a surge in criminal activity across various regions. On Saturday, August 10, sources informed the media that the assailants targeted the young man in the “Hadi Akhondzada” area of the sixth district in Jalalabad. The gunmen attacked him as he was heading to a mosque, killing him instantly. The exact motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Local Taliban officials in Nangarhar have not yet commented on the incident, which comes amid a rise in criminal acts, particularly mysterious murders, reported across the country in recent months. In a recent case, three days ago, unknown gunmen also shot a woman in the fourth district of Jalalabad. Despite the Taliban’s claims of combating crime since their takeover, reports from various provinces suggest otherwise.

Ongoing insecurity, a lack of job opportunities, political instability, and fear of the Taliban have led many citizens to seek refuge in neighboring countries and the region. Reports indicate that undocumented Afghanistani migrants in these countries face significant challenges and are at risk of detention and deportation back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
