RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar report that Aziz Ahmad Wafa, a journalist for the National Television of Nangarhar, operating under Taliban control, has been detained by the group’s intelligence forces.

Sources revealed on Tuesday, August 6, that the Taliban’s intelligence forces arrested Wafa two weeks ago near his office at the “Pashtunistan” intersection in Jalalabad, the provincial capital of Nangarhar.

The reasons for Wafa’s detention remain unclear, and he has been transferred to Nangarhar’s general prison. According to sources, Aziz Ahmad Wafa has been working as a journalist at the National Radio and Television of Nangarhar for several years.

Local Taliban officials in Nangarhar have yet to comment on the detention of this journalist, despite similar incidents having occurred in other provinces previously.

It is noteworthy that during the past three years of Taliban rule, the group has imposed severe restrictions on media operations and journalists, frequently raiding media offices and detaining journalists and media personnel.
