RASC News Agency: The Guardian has reported that newly recruited members of ISIS-K, particularly those from Central Asian countries, are traveling to Afghanistan for training and to learn how to execute attacks. The Guardian states that ISIS views Afghanistan as a more conducive environment for training, which is why it sends its members there for preparation and instruction.
Although the Taliban have denied the presence of ISIS-K and other terrorist groups in Afghanistan under their control, the Guardian’s report indicates otherwise: “The expansion of ISIS-K operations is not limited to direct attacks. The group is also focused on establishing a network of facilitators and supporters in various regions. This network includes recruiting and training foreign fighters from Central Asia, the Middle East, and other areas. Citizens of Central Asian countries, including Tajiks and Uzbeks, are particularly targeted for recruitment. Some of them travel to Afghanistan for training before returning to their home countries or moving to other areas to carry out attacks.”
The Guardian reports that ISIS has shifted its focus from Afghanistan to “larger global objectives.” The Guardian adds that ISIS-K has grand plans and is determined to implement them. The report notes that ISIS is increasingly using cryptocurrencies and online payment structures. The Guardian states: “ISIS is trying to increase its presence in India, where it disseminates propaganda aimed at intensifying tensions between Hindus and Muslims and seeks to recruit individuals through local operatives.”
The Guardian says that findings related to recent ISIS activities have alarmed security organizations worldwide. The media outlet highlights a significant shift in ISIS’s strategy, evident from the major terrorist attack in Moscow on March 22, 2024, which resulted in 145 deaths and hundreds of injuries. This attack underscores ISIS’s capability to strike from its base and emphasizes the growing threat it poses to global security.
Meanwhile, according to the Afghanistan Security Watch, ISIS-K carried out only six attacks across Afghanistan in the past three months.
