RASC News Agency: The “Supreme Council of Resistance to Save Afghanistan”, which is a council opposed to the Taliban group, in a statement on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the death of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the jihadist commander, asked the international community not to be indifferent to the future of the Afghanistani people.
In addition to a number of leaders and commanders of former jihadist groups, including Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, some other leaders and officials of the Taliban group, who are all abroad, are members of this council.
This council published a statement on Saturday, September 9, saying that after 22 years have passed since the death of Ahmad Shah Massoud, Afghanistan has gone backwards in all areas of life and has faced a dark and bloody disaster.
This council has asked the international community to stop the “illegitimate and oppressive rule of the Taliban” over Afghanistan.
Ahmad Shah Massoud, the jihadist commander of Jamiat-e-Islami, was killed in a suicide attack by two Arab terrorists who introduced themselves as journalists on 9 September 2001 in “Khwaja Bahauddin” district of Takhar province.
At that time, the Taliban group dominated Afghanistan for the first time, and the forces under the leadership of Commander Ahmad Shah Massoud fought against the Taliban group under the umbrella of a military front called “National Resistance” in several provinces, including Parwan near Kabul.
Former president Hamid Karzai and former head of the Supreme Reconciliation Council, Abdullah Abdullah, who both live in Kabul, have praised Ahmad Shah Massoud’s long struggle for Afghanistan’s freedom in separate messages.
During the previous government of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Massoud was given the title of “National Hero” and his death was commemorated every year during a special ceremony, and September 9 was declared a public holiday in Afghanistan.
The Taliban group has not held any official meeting on this day in the last two years and has also canceled the public holiday.
Ahmad Masoud, the son of Ahmad Shah Masoud, is currently in charge of the National Resistance Front, a front opposing the Taliban group.
