Taliban Torture Claims the Life of a Panjshir Resident

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Panjshir province report that the continued brutal actions of the Taliban have recently resulted in the death of a resident due to torture. On Friday, August 2, sources informed the media that the victim, identified as Mayel, was arrested by the Taliban in May of this year at the Chaharahi Lab Jar area of Kabul.

According to these sources, Mayel’s body was buried by the Taliban in a cemetery in Kabul. Mayel was originally from Bahram Khil village in the Rokha district of Panjshir province. So far, local Taliban officials in Panjshir have not commented on this incident. It is worth noting that similar reports have surfaced previously. Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, there have been numerous reports of arrests, imprisonment, torture, and even killings of residents from various districts in Panjshir.

Human rights activists have emphasized that the arrest and humiliation of civilians constitute human rights violations, and no party involved in conflict should engage in such conduct. Experts in the field believe that the right to freedom from arbitrary detention, the right to human dignity, and the right to freedom from insult and humiliation are fundamental human rights.

They added that the arbitrary detention of civilians is a clear violation of human rights and an evident breach of international humanitarian law.
