RASC News Agency: Local sources in Samangan province report that Taliban forces have continued their campaign of violence, recently executing a young man in the region. Sources indicate that on Wednesday, August 1, six Taliban fighters shot and killed a 17-year-old named Abdul Haq in the village of Nowrouzi, Roy Do Aab district. Abdul Haq, who was engaged in farming, was reportedly severely beaten, had his hands bound, and was then executed by gunfire.
According to the sources, Abdul Haq was innocent and had not committed any crime. He had recently returned home from Iran, where he had been working, and had been engaged in agricultural activities upon his return. The exact motive for Abdul Haq’s killing remains unclear, and local Taliban officials have not commented on the incident.
This act of violence is part of a broader pattern by the Taliban during their three-year rule, during which they have frequently detained, beaten, and executed young men in various provinces on various pretexts. In other incidents, the Taliban have executed several young men in summary trials in the districts of Darah Sof Payan, Khuram and Sarbagh, and Feroznakhchir.
Additionally, the group recently arrested and brutally beat at least 30 residents of Takhar province on charges of breaking pistachio shells. The Taliban have consistently shown no accountability for these actions, neither to individuals nor to any governing bodies.
