RASC News Agency: Khalil Rahman Haqqani, the Minister of Migrants and Returnees within the Taliban group, asserted in his recent statements that Ata Mohammad Noor, a former jihadist leader during the political negotiations, had pledged allegiance to him. Haqqani made this claim during an interview with the private Shamshad TV, which aired on the evening of Thursday, February 15th.

The Taliban official stated, “Throughout the political negotiations, there were leaders who pledged allegiance to me; such as Ata Mohammad Noor, who initially pledged allegiance to me but later renounced it.” Haqqani also referenced their association with Amir Ismail Khan and Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, former jihadist leaders, noting that collaborative efforts were undertaken to protect their lives and families. Former jihadist leaders, whose names Haqqani cited in his remarks, have yet to respond to the assertions made by the Taliban’s Minister of Migrants.

In the meantime, Taliban officials have consistently encouraged members and former military personnel of the previous government to return to the country, citing the group’s general amnesty. However, according to reports, individuals from the former government’s ranks who remain in Afghanistan under Taliban governance encounter escalating constraints, and, in numerous instances, despite the amnesty, they have been subjected to detention or violence
