RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kandahar province report that a 20-year-old man recently took his own life, marking another tragic incident in the region. According to these sources, the event occurred on Tuesday, July 30, in the Chawk Shayesta area of Spin Boldak district, Kandahar province. The young man, named Hikmatullah, originally from the Sangisar village in the Zhari district, had been residing with his sister in Spin Boldak.

The Taliban authorities in Kandahar have confirmed the incident. A police source from the group stated that the young man had been struggling with debt owed to a friend, which led him to take this step. In recent times, there has been an unprecedented rise in suicide incidents among the citizens of the country, particularly among the youth and women, across various provinces.

In a recent case, another young man in the Loy Wiyala area of Kandahar city also committed suicide due to debt. The lack of employment opportunities, economic hardships, mental health issues, domestic violence, and the restrictions imposed by the Taliban are cited as contributing factors to the rising suicide rates.
