RASC News Agency: Local sources from Takhar Province report another targeted and mysterious killing, as a 55-year-old man was recently found murdered under unclear circumstances. Sources informed the media on Tuesday, July 30, that the incident occurred the previous night in the village of Takhnabad, Chah Ab district, Takhar Province.
According to these sources, the victim, known as Khalifa Mahboob, was shot dead, but the exact motive behind his murder remains unclear. Meanwhile, sources within the National Resistance Front have claimed that Khalifa Mahboob was killed by their forces, alleging his involvement in the murder of Faizullah Takhnabadi, a commander opposed to the Taliban. Local Taliban authorities have not yet commented on the incident. This event comes amidst a noticeable rise in criminal activities across various provinces.
Additionally, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres recently highlighted in a report the increasing insecurity in Afghanistan. It is worth noting that since the Taliban took control of the country, while incidents of suicide bombings and explosions have somewhat decreased, there has been an uptick in restrictions and violence against citizens, particularly against non-Pashtun ethnic groups.
