RASC News Agency: V-News has reported a significant increase in “terrorist” activities in the region, particularly in Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021. The outlet highlighted a substantial uptick in terrorist actions compared to previous levels following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.
Despite the Taliban’s denials of harboring extremist groups within their controlled territories and assurances that no threats emanate from Afghanistan to its neighbors or the region, V-News reported otherwise. “Numerous terrorist organizations under Taliban influence, such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS-Khorasan, have established safe havens in Afghanistan,” the report stated.
V-News further noted that Iran, reacting to recent “terrorist” incidents within its borders, has decided to close its border with Afghanistan. The report indicated that these terrorist groups have identifiable locations within Afghanistan. “Alarmed by the rising threat of terrorism, Iran has begun constructing a 300-kilometer long and 4-meter high wall along its border with Afghanistan,” the report added.
Previously, Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani warned that the resurgence of “terrorist” groups in Afghanistan poses a significant threat to the entire region. Following an ISIS-Khorasan attack in Kerman, he stated, “The terrorists responsible for the Kerman explosion entered Iran from Afghanistan.”
Furthermore, Pakistan has witnessed an increase in bombings, suicide attacks, and armed assaults since the Taliban’s resurgence. Pakistani officials attribute these incidents to the TTP and accuse the Afghanistani Taliban of supporting the group within Pakistan.
