RASC News Agency: Local sources from Ghor report that three members of the Taliban, detained on charges of murdering another member of the group, were executed by their fellow Taliban while attempting to escape from prison. However, in an internal communique released exclusively within the Taliban’s circles, the governor’s office in Ghor described the three individuals as “ISIS members,” alleging they had escaped from the detention center in Marghab district the previous night Saturday, July 27.
The communique claimed that the individuals were affiliated with ISIS and had committed acts of betrayal. It detailed that a few days prior, these three had killed a Taliban member named Saeedullah in Murghab district, leading to their subsequent arrest. The communique from the governor’s office further stated: “These three individuals were involved in ISIS and Kharijite activities in Ghor province before the Taliban’s takeover. After their surrender, they were granted safety by the Islamic Emirate of Ghor. Unfortunately, they betrayed this trust by killing a mujahid.”
A credible source in Ghor dismissed the allegations of ISIS affiliation as fabricated, asserting that the slain individuals were, in fact, two sons and a nephew of “Mullah Sulaiman,” who were affiliated with the Taliban. It is noteworthy that Mullah Sulaiman, a tribal elder in Marghab district, Ghor, was killed by the Taliban in February 2019 in the Sar-e-Jangal area, accused of being an ISIS member. According to the source, Mullah Sulaiman’s sons held Ahmed Shah Deen Dost, the former deputy governor and current governor of the Taliban in Ghor, responsible for ordering the killing of their father.
The source revealed that Mullah Sulaiman left behind 12 sons, four of whom joined the Taliban after their father’s death. Two of Mullah Sulaiman’s sons, who work with the Taliban’s intelligence in Sar-e-Pul, filed a complaint against Ahmed Shah Deen Dost with the “Kandahar Council” several months ago, accusing him of orchestrating their father’s murder.
Following this complaint, Ahmed Shah Deen Dost allegedly sought to eliminate Mullah Sulaiman’s sons. This incident highlights the Taliban’s tactic of eliminating their adversaries under the pretext of ISIS affiliation.
