China Announces $13.7 Million Aid to Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: Continuing its humanitarian assistance to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, Zhao Xing, the Chinese ambassador to Kabul, announced that China plans to provide $13.7 million to address the needs of Afghanistani refugees. Xing made this announcement on Saturday, July 13, during a meeting with Din Mohammad Hanif, the Taliban’s Minister of Economy.

The Chinese ambassador added that these funds are intended to assist refugees who have been expelled from neighboring countries and have returned to Afghanistan. During their discussions, the Chinese ambassador and the Taliban’s Minister of Economy also covered topics such as Chinese investment interests in Afghanistan, the Aynak copper project, the Wakhan Corridor transit route, and increasing trade volume between the two countries.

Notably, nearly three years into the Taliban’s rule, no country has formally recognized the group. However, China maintains a strong relationship with the Taliban. Reports indicate that since the Taliban took control of the country, dozens of Chinese companies have arrived in Afghanistan to invest in the mining sector under the Taliban’s regime.

Despite Pakistan’s historically good relations with the Taliban, it has taken measures to expel Afghanistani han refugees indiscriminately due to increasing terrorist attacks and rising tensions since last year. In addition to Pakistan, hundreds of Afghanistani refugees are also being expelled from Iran daily and returned to Afghanistan, many of whom require humanitarian assistance.
