Seven Injured in Clash with Taliban in Takhar

RASC News Agency: Sources from Kalafgan district in Takhar province report that a clash between the Taliban and local residents at a salt mine has resulted in the injury of 11 individuals from both sides. Residents of the Archa Kotal village in Kalafgan told RASC that early this morning Sunday, July 7, villagers had a dispute over water with the contractor of the salt mine. The Taliban intervened to support the contractor, leading to a violent confrontation.

According to sources, four Taliban members and seven local residents were injured in the clash. The Taliban have since brought dozens of armed forces to the area, surrounding the entire village. The conflict over water between the villagers and the salt mine company escalated into violence due to the Taliban’s involvement. Local residents claim that the salt mine company has monopolized the village’s water supply, depriving them of access.

Last week, it was reported that a Taliban commander in Farhar district of Takhar province seized and slaughtered ten sheep belonging to a local resident, using them for a feast. These acts of coercion by the Taliban are occurring across various provinces. Recently in Badakhshan, the Taliban forcibly searched people’s homes.

Since taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have forcibly taken houses, farms, and possessions from local people for their own use. The residents, frustrated and helpless, remain silent. The Taliban show no mercy towards the people, arbitrarily detaining, torturing, and killing them without cause.
