RASC News Agency: The Coalition of Women’s Protest Movements in Afghanistan has denounced the third Doha meeting as “illegitimate” due to the exclusion of female and civil society representatives from Afghanistan. In a video released concurrently with the start of the third Doha meeting, several women asserted that the international community and the United Nations are attempting to “strike deals” with the Taliban.
These women further claimed that the United Nations and the global community have placed the fate of Afghanistani women “in the hands of a terrorist group.” The Doha meeting commenced yesterday (Monday, July 1) with the presence of special representatives from various countries, the Taliban delegation, and under the auspices of the United Nations. The agenda for this meeting includes discussions between country representatives and the United Nations on banking issues and drug cultivation in Afghanistan with the Taliban delegation.
It is noteworthy that women’s rights organizations and human rights groups have launched widespread protests against this meeting due to the absence of discussions on human rights, particularly women’s rights, and the exclusion of female representatives from the agenda. Several women’s rights activists have boycotted the meeting. Invited women also refrained from attending the third Doha meeting, opting instead to boycott it.
In recent reports, Afghanistani residents in Canada have organized a gathering demanding the boycott of this meeting. The Canadian government has criticized the exclusion of women and civil society activists from this meeting.
