RASC News Agency: The Turkish Language and Literature Department at Balkh University in northern Afghanistan, currently under the administration of the Taliban, was inaugurated through a collaborative effort between the university and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, “TIKA.” This department’s establishment occurred on December 26th, with plans to initiate educational operations in March 2024.
Sumia Lutfo Turgut, the Turkish Consul General in Mazar-e-Sharif, revealed in an interview with the Anatolia News Agency that the university facility underwent renovations to accommodate the Turkish language and literature department. The designated area has been outfitted with essential resources, including projectors, whiteboards, computers, laser printers, tables, and chairs, all generously provided by the Mazar-e-Sharif “TIKA” office.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of notable figures such as Hayatullah Haqjoo, the chancellor of Balkh University; Turgut, a representative from the Mazar-e-Sharif “TIKA” office; Mikael Tashdemir; and Asiluddin Bawar, the head of the Turkish language and literature department. During the ceremony, Turgut underscored the significance of this initiative in cultivating stronger bonds between Turkey and Afghanistan.
Tashdemir reiterated TIKA’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Afghanistani people, emphasizing the agency’s dedication to advancing development projects, particularly in pivotal sectors such as education, health, and agriculture. Haqjoo expressed gratitude towards TIKA and Turkey for their invaluable assistance efforts and acknowledged Turkey’s sustained support in various capacities, emphasizing the substantial impact of Turkish aid in the region.
