RASC News Agency: Local sources from Nangarhar province report that, amidst a surge in criminal activities, unidentified gunmen recently killed two individuals in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.VSources informed the media on Saturday, June 29, that the two victims were gunned down two days earlier on “40-Meter Road” in Jalalabad, Nangarhar province.
According to these sources, the deceased were residents of Jalalabad. The motive behind the killings remains unclear, and Taliban officials have yet to comment on the incident. Sources added that criminal incidents in Jalalabad have increased recently, causing significant concern among the city’s residents. In the latest criminal incident, armed robbers killed a young man in the city nearly two weeks ago. In most cases, the perpetrators are not pursued by authorities.
As previously reported by the United Nations Secretary-General, more than 2,500 security incidents have been recorded in Afghanistan over the past three months. According to Mr. Guterres’s latest report, insecurity in February, March, and April of this year increased by 55 percent compared to the previous three months.
Among these incidents, drug-related crimes have surged by 97 percent, rising from 212 to 418 cases. The majority of these incidents occurred in central, northeastern, southeastern, and southern Afghanistan.
