RASC News Agency: Officials from the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations report that 264 families were expelled from Pakistan and Iran within a single day. Bakhtar News Agency reported on Saturday, June 29, that those expelled entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak border crossing and the Silk Bridge in Nimroz province.
According to published reports, seventy-nine families returned via Torkham, thirty families via Spin Boldak in Kandahar, fifty-five families via Silk Bridge in Nimroz, and eighty-two families via Islam Qala port in Herat. Despite international outcry, the expulsion of Afghanistani refugees from Iran and Pakistan continues unabated.
Recently, Munir Akram, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, reiterated the country’s commitment to expelling “illegal” refugees, expressing hope that an additional 1.5 million registered Afghanistani refugees would also be repatriated. Both Iran and Pakistan have intensified their efforts to expel undocumented migrants, emphasizing the urgency of their removal.
The general populace laments that Afghanistani youth, in search of livelihoods, venture to neighboring and distant countries only to be returned disheartened. In addition to their despair, they face significant travel expenses. Following the Taliban’s takeover, the exodus from Afghanistan has surged, with many young Afghanistanis seeking refuge in various countries. This trend shows no sign of abating.
Previously, the German government announced its intention to expedite the deportation of undocumented migrants, a decision that was reinforced following an incident in which an Afghanistani migrant killed a German police officer.
