RASC News Agency: Numerous residents of Helmand province have expressed their dissatisfaction with the region’s telecommunications and internet services. Ahmad Shah, a resident of Helmand’s provincial capital, reported that none of the five telecommunications networks provide satisfactory services, causing significant difficulties for people trying to communicate with their relatives.
Another Helmand resident told RASC, “When we add credit, we can’t make any effective use of it.” According to them, despite numerous promises from the government over the years to address this issue, no effective measures have been taken to resolve the problems faced by the people. Residents of Helmand’s remote districts report that there are no telecommunications services available in their areas, making it impossible to make calls or use the internet.
Moreover, in the Sangin district of Helmand, often referred to as the “Little Kabul” among the Taliban, telecommunications services are notably poor and practically unusable, prompting residents to demand a solution. Shah Mohammad, a resident of Sangin district, told RASC, “To speak with my relatives, I have to climb high mountains or go to elevated places to get a slight connection; otherwise, nothing works properly.”
For the past two decades, many residents of Helmand’s districts and remote areas have faced the persistent issue of substandard telecommunications services. Recently, last week, residents of Zabul province also complained about the weaknesses and inefficiencies of the telecommunications networks in their region.
