RASC News Agency: The British Embassy for Afghanistan announced that it held a joint session with Japanese officials to support women and girls in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. The British Embassy made this announcement on Sunday, Feb 18, via a post on their social media platform X, stating that discussions were held on women, peace, and security regarding how to support Afghanistani women.

Operating from Doha, the British Embassy for Afghanistan emphasized that the rights of women and girls are non-negotiable. Based on images released from this session, Robert Dixon, the Charge d’Affaires of the British Embassy for Afghanistan, was also present at the meeting. This development coincides with Afghanistani women and girls facing severe restrictions imposed by the Taliban following the group’s takeover of the country, depriving them of their fundamental rights.

Under Taliban rule in Afghanistan, girls beyond the sixth grade are deprived of education, women’s work and activities in both governmental and non-governmental institutions are prohibited, and restrictions have been imposed on their movements.
