RASC News Agency: Local sources report that the Taliban’s morality enforcer in the Shahada district of Badakhshan province has threatened several young men with gunfire for trimming their beards upon their return from Iran. According to these sources, Mawlawi Hafizullah, the Taliban’s morality officer in Shahada district, fired shots at four young men who had recently returned from Iran because their beards were short. One of the youths, in a panic, jumped into the Kokcha River and was subsequently rescued by local residents.

Two sources confirmed: “Mawlawi Hafizullah, the Taliban’s morality officer in Shahada district, fired at several young men who had just returned from Iran due to the shortness of their beards. One of these young men, named Samiullah, son of Mohammad Nabi, a resident of Parkhwab village, threw himself into the river and was saved by local villagers.” Residents report that the Taliban’s morality police and intelligence units in the district commit numerous acts of oppression against the people, leaving the populace exasperated and desperate.

One local resident stated: “The daily oppression and coercion by these mullahs in Shahada district have pushed both men and women to their limits. They file complaints with the provincial authorities daily, but no one responds. Hundreds of videos and images showing the beatings of women, men, and children by these mullahs have been published, but there is no one to listen, and the people are helpless.”

Previously, local Taliban officials have excommunicated several young men for playing football and have beaten, insulted, and humiliated many women in the district center.
