Taliban Intelligence Forces Arrest Multiple Family Members in Panjshir

RASC News Agency: Sources from Panjshir province report that Taliban intelligence forces have recently detained several members of a single family in the region. On Sunday, June 2, sources informed the media that the individuals recently arrested by Taliban intelligence are Abdul Rahim, Enayat, and Ahmad Zarar, all residents of Anaba district in Panjshir.

According to the sources, 20 days ago, Qari Abdul Jabbar, the deputy head of Taliban intelligence in Anaba, summoned Abdul Rahim and handed him over to the group’s security directorate, where he was imprisoned. Last year, Abdul Rahim was also arrested by Taliban intelligence forces in Kabul without any charges and was detained at the group’s Intelligence Directorate 40.

The sources recounted that Abdul Rahim was released after four months in prison when a judge acquitted him. In another incident four days ago, Enayat, one of Abdul Rahim’s sons who had been deported from Iran, was also detained by Qari Abdul Jabbar and handed over to Panjshir’s security directorate. He had been in Iran since the fall of the previous government.

Two days ago, Ahmad Zarar, another of Abdul Rahim’s sons, aged 12, was similarly arrested by Qari Abdul Jabbar and handed over to the Taliban’s security directorate in Panjshir. The reasons for the arrests and imprisonment of these family members by Taliban intelligence forces remain unclear.

During their nearly three-year rule over the country, the Taliban have been known for their harsh and violent treatment of non-Pashtun ethnic groups, particularly the residents of Panjshir.
