RASC: According to the announcement of the Supreme Court of the Taliban group, this group publicly punished two people for theft in Zermat district of Paktia province.

In an announcement of this court that was published last Wednesday, July 5, it is stated that the security forces of the Taliban group arrested two people on the charge of theft and both accused “confessed” to their crime.

A source who closely watched the public punishment of the two men said that the Taliban first whipped the two men and then sentenced them to prison.

The source added that during their punishment, in addition to the Taliban officials, a large number of people were called to watch, and no one was allowed to take pictures.

Last year, the Taliban group started flogging people accused of various crimes, which caused widespread reactions from human rights institutions and the international community.

The United Nations announced in a report on April 24 that the Taliban had publicly flogged 274 men, 58 women and 2 boys in the previous six months.

According to this report, the Taliban group executed a person in public.

This organization asked the Taliban group to immediately stop the death penalty and public punishment of the accused.
