RASC News Agency: Several residents of Farah province in western Afghanistan report that the absence of healthcare services and medical facilities in Bala Buluk district has created severe hardships for families. Akbar Ghulami, a resident of Farah province, told RASC News on Friday, June 1, “Not only in Bala Buluk district but in all districts of Farah, there are no healthcare services available for the people.”
He continued, stating that women and children are particularly affected, having suffered significant casualties over the years due to the lack of clinics and medical centers. Ghulami explained that Bala Buluk district is extremely distant from the provincial center, leading to numerous patients losing their lives en route to medical facilities.
He emphasized that this problem is not limited to Bala Buluk but is prevalent in other districts of Farah as well, with the Taliban authorities showing no concern for the issue. Naem, another resident of Farah, told RASC that many people suffer from high fevers and other illnesses due to the lack of healthcare centers and clinics in the province, with no means to alleviate their suffering.
He mentioned that Farah lacks basic healthcare facilities, forcing residents to travel to Kabul and Herat for treatment. Naem called upon the Taliban authorities and international organizations to pay more attention to this critical issue. A doctor from Farah, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told RASC that the province has only one small hospital, which is severely under-equipped and lacks essential medical facilities.
The doctor noted that many patients face significant hardships due to this situation, and some have even died because of the lack of medical equipment and facilities. Despite extensive efforts, we were unable to obtain comments from the Taliban’s public health officials in Farah province.
