RASC News Agency: Tedros Adhanom, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, announced that 17 mobile aid teams have been deployed to the flood-affected areas of Afghanistan. Adhanom made this announcement on Monday, May 13th, via a message on his social media platform, adding that the World Health Organization and its partners have formed these teams.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization added, “They are currently providing essential medicines and health supplies to affected communities.” The recent onset of devastating floods in several provinces of the country, especially in Baghlan province, has resulted in significant loss of life and immense financial damages to local residents. The latest statistics indicate that in just two districts of Baghlan province, over 300 individuals have lost their lives, thousands more have been injured, and thousands of homes have been partially or completely destroyed.
Numerous relief organizations, including the Civil Protection Office, the European Union’s humanitarian aid, UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration, and the World Health Organization, are currently assisting flood victims. Earlier, Thomas West, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, stated that America’s allies are mobilizing emergency assistance, including food and water, for flood victims in Afghanistan.
