RASC News Agency: Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s special envoy, in his recent communication regarding the recent catastrophic floods in Balkh and Takhar provinces, has emphasized that the absence of effective crisis management during the critical moments of rescue has led to the loss of numerous Afghanistani lives. Mr. Qomi rebuked the Taliban for their “imbalanced approach” and “inconsistent behavior” in accepting humanitarian assistance for flood victims in Balkh, highlighting that the crucial hours, vital for saving lives, are being consumed by coordination and negotiation.
Iran’s special envoy for Afghanistan, on this Sunday, May 12th, conveyed through his platform X that even during the devastating earthquake in Herat, the pivotal hours were squandered on coordination and negotiation rather than prioritizing human rescue efforts. Qomi further noted that this approach “has hindered decision-making.” Iran has declared its preparedness to dispatch relief teams, medical personnel, and public donations to flood-affected areas in the northern provinces of Afghanistan via the Red Crescent and the “Khomeini Relief Committee” should the Taliban make a request.
It is reported that thus far, the Taliban has not responded to Iran’s offer of assistance. Three days have elapsed since the catastrophic floods in the northern provinces of the country, particularly in Balkh province, yet substantial aid has not been delivered to the flood victims.
