Floods Ravage Western Afghanistan, Claiming Lives and Devastating Homes

RASC News Agency: Sources in the western region report numerous fatalities due to recent floods in the provinces. Speaking anonymously to RASC on Friday, May 10th, a source from Ghor province revealed that the floods have caused casualties and substantial financial losses for families in various areas. The source disclosed that over six individuals have perished in urban and rural areas of Ghor province alone.

 

In the Morghab area of Ghor province, nearly 45 homes have been destroyed by floods, leaving residents displaced. The source emphasized that residents are struggling to maintain their livelihoods in these dire circumstances, with relief agencies yet to provide sufficient assistance. In Herat province, another undisclosed source informed RASC of unprecedented floods this year, causing significant loss of life.

 

In districts such as Guzara, Obah, and Adraskan, over 20 homes have been swept away, compounding the suffering of the populace. Many are facing dire financial hardship and homelessness. Musay, a resident of Badghis province, recounted significant financial losses and casualties in the wake of floods in both urban and rural areas.

 

He urged relief organizations to prioritize aiding the affected communities. Ramadan Bakhtari, a local figure in Farah province, highlighted the loss of life due to floods in various parts of the province, underscoring the lack of attention from the Taliban amidst societal challenges.

 

He stressed the unimaginable grief experienced by families in the region. The onset of floods across multiple provinces has led to heavy financial losses and casualties, with many victims urgently requiring assistance from relief agencies.
