RASC News Agency: Local Taliban authorities in Samangan province reported that a traffic accident in the province resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to 21 others. The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, on the Dara Suf-Balkh highway.

Seyed Osman Hamidi, director of Samangan Provincial Hospital, stated that the health condition of 15 of the injured is critical.

According to him, one child is among those who lost their lives in the accident. Residents of Dara Suf district in Samangan province rely on freight vehicles for transportation due to damage to several roads caused by recent floods in the district.

Poor and substandard road conditions, driver negligence, and the challenging terrain of some routes are often cited as causes of traffic accidents in the country.

Published data indicates that traffic accidents in Samangan during 2023 have resulted in the deaths of at least 48 people and injuries to 160 others.
