RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Ministry of Energy and Water has issued a warning of potential rain, moderate to heavy snow, floods, and rising water levels in rivers across most of Afghanistan’s river basins over the next three days. In a press release on Tuesday, April 23, the ministry announced that from April 24 to April 26, there is potential for floods and rising water levels in certain areas of the country’s river basins.

The release specifies that the potential for rain and moderate to heavy snowfall, along with floods, is anticipated in the Amu Darya, Northern, Harirod, Helmand, and Kabul river basins. The ministry warned of possible floods due to rain, snowmelt, and rising water levels along the rivers of Kokcha, Taloqan, Baghlan, Samangan, Balkh, Sar-e-Pul, Maimana, Kushk and Kashan, Badghis, Ghor, Herat, Farah, Khahrod, Helmand, Arghandab, Tarnak, Ghazni, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Panjshir, Ghorband, Kabul, Maidan Wardak, Kunar, Laghman, and other flood-prone areas.

The ministry urged residents of these areas to avoid approaching rivers during floods or high water levels and to promptly notify downstream areas in the event of flooding or rising water levels to prevent loss of life. This warning comes as recent heavy rains across various provinces of Afghanistan have led to at least 100 deaths and dozens of injuries due to flooding.
