RASC News Agency: Ahmad Zia Saraj, former head of Afghanistan’s National Security, asserts that the reason for the increase in terrorist activities in Iran, Pakistan, and other regional countries is the transformation of Afghanistan into a safe haven for terrorist groups. Saraj stated on April 20th, at the opening ceremony of the “Freedom and Development Institute” in London, that the Taliban have become a major challenge for regional countries. Under Taliban rule, Afghanistan has become a hub for domestic and foreign terrorists, now hosting groups such as Al-Shabaab and Boko Haram.
Boko Haram is known as one of the most notorious terrorist groups in Africa, responsible for the deaths of thousands in horrific attacks. The group took power in Nigeria in 2009 and promotes a hardline interpretation of Islam, prohibiting Muslims from participating in social and political activities influenced by the West. Al-Shabaab, a significant arm of the Al-Qaeda network globally, was established in Somalia and pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda, becoming its most organized and largest ally in East Africa.
- The Taliban have not yet commented on the presence of Al-Shabaab and Boko Haram in Afghanistan. Previously, Foreign Policy magazine reported that nearly 20 terrorist groups were present in Afghanistan. According to the report, the Taliban have divided Afghanistan’s gold resources with Al-Qaeda and assisted them in areas such as marriage and home procurement.
