The United Nations Seeks $620.4 Million to Assist Afghanistani Migrants in Iran and Pakistan

RASC News Agency: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in South Asia has announced that more than $620 million is needed to assist Afghanistani migrants in Iran and Pakistan. According to the report, with the provision of this budget, assistance will be provided to 4.8 million Afghanistani migrants and 2.5 million members of the host community in Iran and Pakistan in 2024.

 

The report further stated: “To protect and support Afghan migrants in Iran and Pakistan, over $620 million is required, and if secured, it will aid 4.8 million Afghanistani migrants and 2.5 million members of the host community of Afghanistani migrants in the current calendar year.” According to this report, the situation in Afghanistan and neighboring countries is described as challenging.

 

Many Afghanistani migrants in Iran and Pakistan have stated that they are in a dire economic situation. They have expressed that no assistance has been distributed to them from any organization yet. Statistics show that Iran and Pakistan are currently hosting nearly 7.7 million Afghanistani citizens.
