RASC News Agency: The Spontaneous Women’s Protest Movement in Afghanistan has formally communicated with the United Nations, highlighting the deteriorating health condition of Manizhah Sediqi, a prominent women’s rights activist, in the custody of the Taliban group. In a letter issued by the movement on Wednesday, Mar 13, it is asserted that Ms. Sediqi has fallen gravely ill as a result of the Taliban group’s torture in Pul-e-Charkhi prison.
According to the contents of this letter, the Taliban group has prevented the family of this imprisoned women’s rights activist from obtaining medicine for her. The protesting women have asserted that Ms. Sediqi, without any evidence, was apprehended by the intelligence operatives of this group on allegations of burning a portrait of Mullah Hibatullah, the leader of the Taliban group. This movement has conveyed that the virtual responses of the United Nations to this action by the Taliban group are inadequate, urging the organization to take decisive measures in this matter.
It is noteworthy that Ms. Sediqi was arrested by the Taliban intelligence forces on the 9th of October of this year, and despite repeated global and domestic appeals, she remains incarcerated by this group. Previously, Amnesty International implored individuals to unite in efforts to secure the release of Manizheh Sadeghi, a women’s rights activist, alongside Sadiqueullah Afghan and Ahmad Fahimi, activists advocating for girls’ education in Afghanistan, from the clutches of the Taliban group.
