RASC News Agency: After several days since the public executions of individuals by the Taliban, Thomas Nicholson, the European Union’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has recently condemned these executions. Thomas Nicholson wrote on Saturday, Mar 2, on his social media platform that the European Union strongly condemns the public executions of individuals in the provinces of Ghazni and Jowzjan.

Nevertheless, Nicholson has also stated that according to Articles 6 and 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, public execution does not comply with international human rights standards, as it is considered degrading and contrary to human dignity. Meanwhile, the Taliban group executed two individuals on charges of murder in Ghazni province about 10 days ago and one individual last week in Jowzjan province, in public.

It is noteworthy that although many authorities worldwide have called for an end to this trend, the Taliban group has responded by stating that retribution is an internal matter and not applicable to anyone.
