RASC News Agency: Masoom Stanekzai, the former Afghanistan government’s negotiating team leader, urged the Taliban to honor their commitments ahead of the Doha talks. He brought up this matter on Saturday, Feb 17, through a message on his social media platform, X, stating that “discussions revolving around the Doha meeting are intense, with high hopes for ‘behind-the-scenes efforts.'”

Mr. Stanekzai emphasized that nation-building can only occur if “power monopolization” and “misuse of the people’s name” cease. He also highlighted the region’s growing instability. Moreover, Masoom Stanekzai stressed that one should not expect too much from Doha, as he stated, “not all issues can be resolved in one session.” According to Mr. Stanekzai, the Doha meeting presents an opportunity that should be reasonably seized.

The Doha conference on Afghanistan, hosted by Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, February 18th and 19th, in Doha, Qatar.
