RASC News Agency: The United Nations has announced that its Security Council will convene a session regarding Afghanistan. The session is scheduled to commence at 10:00 AM, before lunch, on Monday, Feb 26. This session marks the first time the United Nations Security Council has addressed Afghanistan under Taliban control since the Doha meeting.

The Doha meeting, conducted last week on February 18th and 19th, was hosted by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and attended by representatives from various countries and Afghanistan civil activists. Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and representatives from the United States and the European Union perceived this session as constructive.

Thomas West, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, reflected on the Doha session, highlighting a strong consensus among nations regarding collective interests in Afghanistan under Taliban governance. He stressed that no country desires terrorism to permeate Afghanistan, and there is a shared aspiration for the reinstatement of women and girls in secondary schools, universities, employment, and public life.

It is notable that under Taliban rule in Afghanistan, girls are denied education beyond the sixth grade, and the group staunchly advocates for the exclusion of women and girls from public spheres. Furthermore, neighboring and regional countries have repeatedly voiced concerns about the presence and activities of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan under Taliban control.
