RASC News Agency: Some families of martyrs and disabled individuals in Badghis province, located in western Afghanistan, assert that since the Taliban assumed power over two years ago, they have not received any compensation in kabuli rupees, nor have they retained their entitlements.
Friba, a resident of Badghis province, disclosed that her husband was killed in battles with the Taliban several years ago. During an exclusive interview with a RASC News Agency correspondent on Friday, Feb 2, she noted that during the republic era, they used to receive an annual amount of 60,000 kabuli rupees from the Martyrs and Disabled Affairs Department. However, since the Taliban’s rise to dominance, they haven’t received even a single kabuli Rupees.
She explained that over the past two years, she has visited the Taliban’s Martyrs and Disabled Affairs Department in Badghis province over a hundred times to claim their due, but to no avail. Moreover, Friba added, “Many women and families of martyrs and disabled individuals in Badghis province are deprived of their husbands’ and sons’ rights by the Taliban.” Friba further emphasized that the Taliban, reminding them of the participation of security-defense forces of the republic government in battles, have made it clear that they won’t even pay a single kabuli rupees to their family members.
Similarly, Sakinah Qasemi, another resident of Badghis province, informed RASC that her children became disabled during the 2015 war and have been homebound since then. She added that during the previous government, an annual amount was paid to the families of war veterans, but currently, not even a single kabuli rupees has been provided to them.
She also mentioned that she now resorts to laundry work to earn money for their daily bread. She mentioned that in 2015, her children lost a leg due to an explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Balamorghab district of Badghis province and are unable to work to support themselves. Qasemi stated that her worries about life are increasing day by day, and there is no one to help her manage the family’s daily expenses. Qasemi urged the Taliban not to be irresponsible and incompetent towards the people of Afghanistan, who are citizens of this country.
Additionally, Ramin Mahmoudi, a resident of Badghis province, told RASC that most of the aid provided by international organizations to the people has been halted by Taliban members. He added that the Taliban have cut off all privileges from the people, which is a clear indication of their complete exploitation. He further added that none of the families have benefited from the assistance sent by regional and extra-regional countries to the families of martyrs, disabled individuals, and other segments of society.
Kabir Rahmati, a civil activist in Badghis province, confirmed that Taliban’s oppression and injustice are increasing day by day, and there is no impediment for the members of this group in this regard. He said that more than 20 million Afghanistanis have been dismayed by the Taliban’s inhumane and un-Islamic actions, counting the moments until this group is no longer rooted in Afghanistan and is destroyed.
The Taliban in Badghis province have not commented on this matter. It should be noted that besides not paying the annual livelihood of the families of martyrs and disabled individuals in Badghis province, the Taliban have also taken away other privileges from these families.
