RASC News Agency: The recent report on the human rights situation in the last three months of 2023, issued by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has elicited a response from the Taliban group. Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, addressed this matter on Monday, January 22nd, by issuing a statement. In his communication, Mujahid accused UNAMA of lacking understanding of Islamic rules and criticized the report for its critical perspective on these rulings.
The Taliban’s spokesperson underscored that the UNAMA report revealed a deficiency in comprehending “Islamic rulings” and highlighted instances where the report expressed criticism toward these rulings. This retort from the Taliban signals their disagreement with the findings and conclusions presented by UNAMA regarding the human rights situation in Afghanistan during the specified period. It emphasizes the contrasting perspectives and interpretations of human rights and Islamic principles between the Taliban and the international community.
In response to the aforementioned report, Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban, imparted their counsel to UNAMA, urging them to abstain from unnecessary criticism of religious matters and the values of the people. He emphasized the importance of understanding Islamic rules before passing judgments or making statements.
Meanwhile, UNAMA had previously released a report spotlighting the situation of the Afghanistani population over the past three months. This report raised particular concern regarding the condition of women, especially those residing in Paktia province. The report unveiled alarming statistics, indicating that a substantial number of women from Dasht-e-Barchi, Kabul, and Hazara areas had been detained by the Taliban for various reasons.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban has consistently denounced UNAMA’s reports on Afghanistan, accusing them of falsehoods on multiple occasions.
