RASC News Agency: The US State Department vehemently condemns the Taliban group’s arrest of Afghan girls and women for not wearing hijab. Matthew Miller, the department’s spokesperson, reported on January 18th that the Taliban has recently perpetrated a series of unfortunate actions against women. The United States is resolute in holding the Taliban accountable for their actions and will persist in taking appropriate measures in this regard.
The Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, notably active in arresting numerous women and girls across different parts of Kabul, such as Dasht-e-Barchi, Khair Khana, and Taimani, has detained these individuals. Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, justified these arrests as a form of “group punishment” aimed at promoting veiling. However, he underscored that this measure is temporary.
The Taliban’s actions have triggered widespread reactions, prompting Amnesty International to call on the group to cease the oppression of Afghanistani women. It is crucial to note that since taking control of the country, the Taliban has subjected women and girls to brutal oppression, depriving them of their fundamental rights. The international community, including the United States, remains committed to addressing these violations and ensuring justice for the victims.
