RASC News Agency: Turkish media outlets recently covered the arrests of Afghanistani refugees in Turkey, spotlighting the proactive measures taken by the country’s security forces in detaining a substantial number of individuals. According to these reports, a comprehensive inspection operation on the Arzanjan city highway led to the apprehension of at least 99 Afghanistani refugees. The fate of these asylum seekers remains shrouded in uncertainty, as it is yet to be determined whether they will face repatriation to Afghanistan. At this juncture, additional details concerning the detained individuals have not been disclosed.

It is essential to highlight that this incident marks not the first time Afghanistani refugees have been detained in Turkey. Previous reports from Turkish media have illuminated similar occurrences across various regions of the country. Many of these refugees are believed to be seeking routes to European countries through Turkey. However, alongside these forced deportations, alarming allegations have emerged regarding police brutality and torture inflicted upon asylum seekers. Eyewitnesses assert that the severity of these beatings has led to fatalities.

Reports indicate that the number of Afghanistani migrants arrested and deported from Turkey in this year alone has exceeded 3,500. This trend is disconcerting, particularly in the face of persistent threats from the Taliban group and the enduring challenges of poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan. The migration of Afghanistani citizens to neighboring countries, including Turkey, has been catalyzed by these factors in recent years. As events continue to unfold, it is imperative to closely monitor the treatment of asylum seekers, ensuring that their safety and well-being take precedence.
