RASC News Agency,: Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban group, has articulated in his latest statements the call for media to conduct their operations within the parameters of Sharia law and align with the policies set forth by the Taliban faction. As reported by the Taliban faction-controlled news agency on Monday, January 15th, Mujahid conveyed these sentiments during the inauguration of “Ainak” radio in Logar province. He asserted that the Taliban group actively supports and collaborates comprehensively with all forms of media.

The report from this Taliban-managed news agency highlighted the existence of six active radio networks in Logar province. Mujahid made these assertions while claiming that media freedom has faced extensive violations by the Taliban group in the past two years. Previously, the Afghanistan Journalists Center documented at least 168 instances of journalist rights violations in 2023. However, the Taliban Group spokesperson dismissed the Afghanistan Journalists Center’s report on 168 cases of journalist rights violations as unrealistic.

It is noteworthy that, subsequent to the Taliban Group’s assumption of control over the country, media activities in various provinces have experienced a significant decline due to diverse challenges, including economic hardships and restrictions imposed by the group, leading to unemployment among many journalists. Meanwhile, reports have surfaced indicating that Taliban faction authorities in certain provinces scrutinize the content published by the media, restricting the dissemination of news that opposes the group, even if it aligns with the truth.
