RASC News Agency: The Federation of Organizations Supporting the Rights of Journalists and Media has expressed grave concern regarding the persisting restrictions imposed on the media and journalists in Afghanistan. In a statement released on Wednesday, October 25, the federation emphasized the Taliban’s utilization of violence, censorship, and arrests as means to exert control over the dissemination of information and media operations. Notably, the federation underscored the severe repression endured by female journalists and the suppression of critical reports.

It is of paramount importance to illuminate the dire circumstances experienced by journalists and media outlets in Afghanistan, including self-censorship, limited access to information, and the omnipresent fear of prosecution. Of great distress are the journalists currently held in Taliban custody, despite the group’s two-year rule in Afghanistan. Journalists continue to be apprehended, and media activities remain suspended.

Reports indicate that this year alone, four journalists have lost their lives in Afghanistan, in addition to the physical and psychological violence endured. Renowned for their vehement opposition to freedom of expression, the Taliban actively strives to impede media activities that challenge their authority. The Federation of Organizations Supporting the Rights of Journalists and Media vehemently calls for an immediate cessation of the restrictions and violence imposed upon journalists and media outlets in Afghanistan.

In conclusion, the Federation of Organizations Supporting the Rights of Journalists and Media has released a statement expressing deep concern regarding the ongoing restrictions and acts of violence targeting journalists and media outlets in Afghanistan. The utilization of violence, censorship, and arrests by the Taliban to manipulate the information flow and media landscape presents a significant cause for concern. Additionally, the federation urgently appeals for an end to the severe repression faced by female journalists and demands the immediate release of those currently in Taliban custody.
