RASC News Agency: Local sources in Baghlan province report that the Taliban have detained Sayed Alam, a former member of the national army. He was reportedly apprehended on Wednesday, September 11, in the village of Chakr, located in Khost district of Baghlan province. While the precise reasons for his arrest remain unclear, sources suggest that the Taliban may have detained him on suspicion of collaborating with the National Resistance Front. According to further reports, this former soldier had recently been deported from Iran due to a lack of proper documentation.
Last year, the Taliban similarly arrested Sayed Agha, the brother of Sayed Alam, accusing him of ties to the Resistance Front. Over the past three years, the Taliban have consistently targeted former government officials, particularly military personnel, subjecting them to arrest, torture, and, in numerous cases, extrajudicial execution. Just over a month ago, Burhanuddin Samadi, another former military officer, was arrested and tortured by the Taliban in Doshi district, Baghlan.
It is crucial to note that during their three-year rule, the Taliban have executed thousands of former national army soldiers, with thousands more still imprisoned. Despite their initial assurances of amnesty for former military members and other Afghanistani citizens, the Taliban have continually violated this pledge. Throughout their tenure, they have assassinated or imprisoned countless individuals across Afghanistan, betraying the promises made to the Afghanistani people.
