RASC News Agency: Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, the leader of a religious political party in Pakistan, convened a meeting with Afghanistan’s Prime Minister, Mohammad Hassan Akhund, on Monday, January 8th. The discussions encompassed diverse bilateral matters, including the repatriation of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan, regional security concerns, and other salient issues. Rehman and his delegation arrived in Kabul on Sunday evening to engage with the Afghanistan leadership. This visit occurs against the backdrop of strained relations between the two nations, marked by increased militant attacks in Pakistan’s western provinces along the Afghanistan border and Islamabad’s decision to deport numerous illegal immigrants, predominantly Afghanistani nationals.
Apart from meeting with Prime Minister Akhund, Rehman engaged in a discourse with Afghanistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Maulana Abdul Kabir, in Kabul on Sunday. The primary focus of this meeting was to address the regional situation and its repercussions on the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Rehman underscored the imperative of resolving any misunderstandings between the two countries and expressed the desire to explore avenues for collaboration in political, economic, commercial, and other domains of mutual interest.
Rehman conveyed his regret over Pakistan’s decision to deport Afghanistani immigrants and emphasized that his party had actively protested against this governmental move. It is noteworthy that Rehman maintains close ties with the leadership of the Taliban in Afghanistan, as his party vehemently upholds Islamic laws and values. This political party wields significant influence in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, both of which share a border with Afghanistan.
