RASC News Agency: According to local sources in Panjshir province, the Taliban, in their ongoing violent actions against citizens, recently detained a defense lawyer from this province’s jurisdiction. Sources informed the media on Tuesday, January 2nd, that the defense lawyer, Ahmad Baser Aleem, was arrested by the Taliban earlier this week at the entrance of Panjshir province and was subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, a source reports that Ahmad Baser was recently handling the murder case of a villager killed by Nomads in the Paryan district of Panjshir, defending against the Nomads/Kuchis in the Taliban’s court in this province. According to the source, after the formalization of the dispute, the Kuchi, the perpetrator of the Paryani villager’s murder, was initially imprisoned. However, later, purportedly due to local Taliban authorities’ intervention, he was released from prison. According to the source’s account, Ahmad Baser Aleem had gone to the Taliban’s appeal court in Panjshir to present his defense regarding this case, but the group detained him on his way back to Kabul. It is said that last year, the brother and three nephews of this defense lawyer were also detained by the Taliban.
Sources indicate that Ahmad Baser Aleem is the principal resident of the Abdullahkhel valley in the Paryan district of Panjshir province and resided in Kabul city. However, his family claims to be unaware of his whereabouts and well-being. The Taliban in Panjshir province has not commented on this matter. This incident occurs as the Taliban, in previous legal cases involving Kuchis against villagers in various provinces, including Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Bamyan, and Zabul, consistently ruled in favor of the Kuchis, coercively extracting millions of Kabuli Rupees from villagers and redistributing them to the Kuchis.
