RASC News Agency: Amid the Taliban’s intense focus on building religious schools in the nation, Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Minister of Migrants and Returnees within this group, recently asserted that religious schools must transcend the confines of imparting solely religious education; they should also provide instruction in jihadist and military ideologies. On Sunday, December 30, the Bakhtar News Agency, under the Taliban’s administration, conveyed that Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani articulated these views during a ceremony at a jihadist school in Paktia province. He underscored the necessity of incorporating jihadist and military ideologies into the curriculum alongside religious teachings.
The member of the Taliban’s interim cabinet expounded that the objective behind teaching jihadist ideologies and religious skills in these educational institutions is to equip students for the defense of “Islam and the country.” Expanding on his statements in this discourse, the Taliban official declared that, beyond the establishment of an Islamic system in Afghanistan, the group will not entertain the formation of any alternative system within the country. He stressed that the responsibility for the proliferation of schools and mosques rests on everyone.
According to a report from the Taliban-managed news agency, these matters were brought up by Haqqani during the graduation ceremony at a jihadist school in Paktia province, where he advocated for the establishment of religious schools in remote villages across various provinces of the country. This development unfolds against the backdrop of the Taliban demonstrating significant interest in erecting religious schools in diverse provinces following their assumption of control, with reports indicating the group’s active conversion of conventional schools into religious institutions.
