RASC News Agency: The political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban group recently held a meeting with Tadamichi Yamamoto, the former head of UNAMA, and Atsushi Sunami, the head of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. This meeting was announced in a newsletter released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban group on Tuesday, December 26th. In the newsletter, Mr. Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai requested Japan’s cooperation in various sectors such as education, agriculture, health, and environmental protection.

During the meeting, the former head of UNAMA acknowledged Japan’s efforts in providing humanitarian aid to build trust and foster relations between the Taliban regime and the international community. This meeting is significant considering the current state of affairs in Afghanistan under the control of the Taliban. The country has witnessed a decline in human rights as well as economic and political stability. Consequently, numerous global meetings have been held to address the situation in Afghanistan, although the Taliban group has not been invited to many of these gatherings.

Despite more than two years of Taliban rule, the group has yet to gain recognition from any country, lacking international legitimacy. This is primarily due to their failure to uphold the rights of women and girls and their inability to establish a functioning government. The Taliban’s reputation in this regard has spread widely, contributing to their exclusion from international recognition.
